Dating Over 40: Younger Men – Which Type is Right for You?

Interested in dating younger men? It’s a dating phenomenon that is rapidly growing. Over 30% of women 40+ are dating younger men according to AARP. Younger men can be more appealing for many obvious reasons but let’s look at a few others: He’ll likely be:
  • Less set in his ways
  • Less controlling
  • Toting less baggage
  • More fun loving
  • Chemistry laden
Plus, since he may be climbing the corporate ladder himself or proving himself in his chosen profession, he’ll likely be more supportive of your career and hectic schedule than a man your age or older. And probably less demanding too as a result.

Now some people may not think this is "normal" – older women dating younger men. So I recommend finding a way to not let what others think bother you, if you are pursuing the cougar love life. Everybody’s got an opinion right? But you can’t live your life to please anyone but you.

As for the younger men and what they think about it? Well, there will be a percentage who won’t be interested in an older woman. There will be a group who don’t find you attractive. There will be a segment who doesn’t want to date at all. And there will be a group who prefer younger women themselves. Starting to sound a lot like dating in any pool of men isn’t it? So don’t worry about what the younger men will think. Some will be very happy to meet and date you!

There are a few different types of guys who will be open to dating a fabulous older woman like yourself. Take stock of this information as you observe their behavior when meeting and dating them to discover who is right for you.

1. Smart, Handsome and Making Something of Himself.
This younger man will respect your experience and accomplishments. He may also want to learn from you and ask for your advice and input. This is often the case with younger women who date older men.

2. Adorable Social Climber
Since you are more established in the world, he might be hoping to take a ride up with you. Not a bad thing if you are aware of this and don’t mind. Keep those beautiful eyes open and enjoy the ride!

3. Avoiding the Baby Time Clock
This guy wants an easier relationship, unencumbered by the ticking bio-clock or the desire a woman has for children. He may be interested in a long-term relationship or just a fun fling. You’ll have to observe to find out which is more likely on his part and yours.

4. Attractive and Seeing $$$
This younger man is seeing you as a Sugar Momma. If you’ve got the cash, it could be fun. Hey, women do this with older men all the time and times "they are a-changing." Still nothing wrong with this as long as you don’t mind footing the bill. There is a lot of power when you’re in charge which that might be right up your alley.

5. Sweet Young Thing (SYT)
He’s handsome and sweet, thoughtful and considerate. But he wants you to make all the decisions. He’s lacking in the maturity department, but he’s so cute you just don’t care.

I’m sure there are many other types, but this give you a good idea of who you may find interested in the Cougar Game. Dating a younger man offers you a certain vibrancy which is why so many older men want to date younger women. Now that women have a good deal of power, it makes sense that the tables have turned.  Women want to try this approach to dating and love too! What’s good for the goose is good for the gander as said so well by this old adage.
