I had a meeting today that didn’t go so well. It wasn’t really all that bad, but mildly unpleasant. In fact, after it was all over, I felt a little insecure or maybe a bit lost. That’s when the radio can really be your friend.
Hasn’t this happened to you?
You’re thinking about something that didn’t go to your liking and your feelings about it. Then a song comes on the radio that speaks directly to you about the situation – in your particular mood. It’s like some kind of cosmic bolt out of the blue. The song hits the mark, and suddenly you start to feel OK, better, stronger and more hopeful again.
Well that’s exactly what happened today. Christien Acguilera’s song Beautiful started playing and I listened to the words and sang along. It was exactly the reminder I needed!
“Every day is so wonderful, then suddenly, its hard to breathe. Now and then I get insecure….I am beautiful in every single way and words can’t bring me down, oh no, don’t you bring me down today.”
Thanks Christine. I needed that. Words can’t bring me down. Why let the words of another interfere with your happiness, your self-esteem, your vision of the future? You know who you are. You know your value as a human being. You know you are a great catch and some man would be darn lucky to be with you. Don’t let anyone bring you down. Not his missed phone call, nor his disappointing behavior. Not his lack of consideration or mean spirited response. Not his disappearing act. None of it!
You are a wonderful, fabulous woman who deserves a good man, a loving man, an honest man. You are perfect as you are and have everything you need to live a rich, full life with or without him. Shore up your knowledge of yourself, your self-image, your belief in what is possible.
While my situation wasn’t about love, it still hit me profoundly. So,for now, this is my new song of strength and positive self-image. For moments when I’m feeling less than, insecure or uncertain, I will sing this song and let it make me feel that strength and power again that is all mine and can never be taken away.
