Invitation to a Blog Tour
I was invited to be part of this blog tour by Elizabeth Stone, a skilled dating blogger exploring the world of breaking up and finding love again at Why Men Leave. I love Elizabeth’s blunt style of advice and she tells it like it is delivering sound guidance.
Currently , Elizabeth is working on creating her own product– a book and workshop geared toward helping women discover and harness their self confidence to help attract the right person. She is also an expert at YourTango.com and writes weekly posts for DigitalRomance.com working hard to reach as many women as possible with her message about love.
If you want to go further back on the blog tour trail, she was invited to participate by her colleague Debra Smouse, who is a life coach and fellow writer focused on helping women fall in love with their lives. Find her behind the scenes post here.
What Are You Working On?
I’m so excited because right now I’m working on finishing up Dating GPS: Your Guidance System to Find Love After 40. This innovative program takes women through the nine steps I used myself to meet my adorable husband. My original guidebook MANifesting Mr. Right still holds all the tools I used years ago to date 30 men in 15 months. With the new Dating GPS, I am incorporating loads of additional methods and tips that I’ve learned in my 12 years as a dating coach.
I am having an absolute blast pulling everything together in this new format. The process of stepping back and looking at everything you have with “fresh eyes” is no easy task and has been challenging. Getting the steps in the right order and deciding what to include has taken a good chunk of the summer, but the final product will be totally worth it! Strategizing has brought me back to my marketing roots which is what has made this so much fun for me.
How Does Your Work Differ?
When I started as a dating coach 12 years ago, I was a novelty. Today, I share the dating advice stratosphere with countless coaches. However, I do have a very specific niche. I’m all about helping women over 40, 50 and 60+ start down the road to find love again. Many women are hesitant to get out there after a divorce, losing a partner, ending a long-term relationship or even a long non-dating hiatus, something I myself lived through for nearly 18 years!
That’s why I specialize in offering proven tools and methods to help you build confidence and become savvy about how dating works in midlife. It’s a heck of a lot different than dating in your 20s! Often what is needed is a shift in perspective, some inspiration and more than anything the true hope that finding love again is possible. I can tell you emphatically – it is!
How Does Your Writing Process Work?
My writing process varies greatly from day-to-day and project-to-project. Some days the stuff flies off my finger tips, gushing forth rapidly. I can barely type fast enough to keep up with the flow. Other days I manage to sit in the chair for 10-15-minutes before I need a drink of water, do laundry, grab a snack or check my email for the 20th time.
Being in my own busienss since 1990, I know there is a natural ebb and flow to whatever work I am doing. After a period of amazing productivity, I can count on a day or two of sluggish down time that is nonnegotiable. Older and wiser, now I just accept that.
I do have a few tricks up my sleeve to help me stay focused when I really need to meet a deadline. One is the Pomodoro timer. Set it and work for 25 minutes – then I have earned a 10-minute break which keeps me going on those tough days believe me. You can also find this as an app for your smart phone.
I love what I do because of the variety it affords me. All the writing I do for myself and clients requires intense brainy work. Mixing it up with the dating coaching sessions for clients shifts my thinking and puts me in a completely different head space. These two tasks balance each other and satisfy separate needs. Works for me!
