Should I Call Him? He Asked Me Out, But Never Set the Time?

Women wonder, “Should I call him?” when a man leaves them hanging about plans.

should I call him, dating coach, finding loveBelow you’ll find four smart suggestions about how to handle this difficult situation most women face at one time or another.

“Hi Ronnie – The Dating Coach for Women

Thanks for all the advice – you’re brilliant. I feel I’m on my way to finding love.

Here is my situation – 2 dates, all contact initiated by him. At the end of 2nd date he asked me if I want to meet this weekend. I said yes. Then got text thanking for lovely time and saying we should meet this weekend. It’s Friday, 2.5 days later and no message.

Should I wait or encourage him (he’s shy which I like, as I had problems with guys acting fast and disappearing even faster). I know only couple of days passed, but if we agreed on this weekend I thought Id hear from him by Thursday. So should I call him?

Last time he also contacted me right after the date and then after 3 days so maybe this evening I’ll get his message. But what to do if I won’t get it?

Thanks!
Waiting by the Phone”

Dear Waiting,

I have several suggestions to handle when you wonder “Should I call him?” It happens so often to women. Men say, “Let’s get together,” then don’t follow through. It’s a difficult dating dilemma, but fairly common.

1) Ask him when. Next time a man asks you to meet over the weekend, say, “OK when?” before getting off the phone. Or even it you are texting, ask him the question. That way you don’t have to wait on pins and needles to hear from him.

Remember, the purpose of dating is to collect information about the men you date to see which one you want to invest more time getting to know. You are assessing a man’s potential for compatibility. In my book, he’s just had his first strike against him for lack of follow up and that is a reason to move on and not see him again if you choose. Or you could give him one more chance if he contacts you.

2) Make other plans. Another option is if he does contact you last minute, you can say you hadn’t heard from him and made other plans. This helps him see the value of planning ahead and nailing down the details.

3) Tell him he’s lucky. You might decide to go on the date, but let him know it was lucky because you were getting ready to make other plans because you hadn’t heard from. He caught you just in time. Either way with #2 or #3, you are indirectly creating a boundary, letting your date know he needs to plan ahead to see you.

4) Do nothing. Lastly, if you don’t hear from him, my dating advice is to do absolutely nothing to contact him. Fight the urge when you  start thinking, “Should I call him?” Instead, find a girlfriend to have fun with and enjoy your night without him. That’s the very best thing to do so you could look clingy and desperate. You certainly don’t want that!

Keep in mind, if this guy doesn’t work out, there will be others. Even if it may seem there’s a shortage, its absolutely not true! And Every man you meet brings you one man closer to the right man for you.
