Today, just for yucks, I Googled Love and March Madness. I found pages that pair these two vastly different items. March Madness as you know refers to the college basketball playoffs. Even if you live under a rock, which sometimes I have been accused of, you can’t completely be in the dark about college basketball. In CT where I live, the UConn women’s team has been strong for so many years, I’ve lost count. And the fans simply go wild.
As a dating coach for women over 40, and feeling in a Carrie Bradshaw kind of mood, I ask the question: If fans love March Madness, and women want love, is there any way to blend the two loves?
Yes there is! Women, if you’re not a fan, its time to become one! For a short time span, make yourself care about college basketball. Learn the teams, read the blogs, and find out what the craziness is all about. You never know – you might like it!
Discover what the excitement is about. It’s not like learning something difficult and if you have college-aged children – all the better! Then you can connect with them too.
As my friend Julie Braun, marketing guru often asks, “How can you break out of the sea of sameness?” When there’s nothing new, boredom and apathy follow close behind. Don’t succumb!
March Madness gives you an opportunity to get involved in something others are extremely enthusiastic about. You could feel their excitement and find some of your own. You’ll have something new to talk about. You’ll be able to contribute to a conversation at work or at a singles event. You’ll have a way to break the ice with a handsome man at a party or in a bar.
And one of the best things about March Madness is that is for a finite period of time. Not like other sports with long seasons, March Madness is mostly in MARCH! For one month or even 6-7 weeks, you can break free of your “No Sports” policy and check it out. What have you got to lose? But think of what you might possibly gain…
-Opportunities to talk to men, meet men, get to know men
-Becoming an enthusiastic fan
-Feeling excited about something new
-Getting out of a rut
Go for it! Here’s a website that provides an overview of sites on March Madness and college basketball.
