Tonight is the first night of the Jewish holiday called Passover. It’s the story of the Jews being slaves in Egypt, and how Moses asked the Pharaoh to “Let my people go.” But the Pharaoh didn’t want to release his work force, so God sent 10 plagues, the last one being the taking of the first born. Moses had the Jews mark their front doors so the Angle of Death would “Pass Over” their homes, searching for the Egyptians.
(Hold on, the dating information is coming…)
The Jews left in a hurry (that’s where the flat bread Matzoh comes in) as they rushed through the Red Sea which Moses parted with God’s help. Then they escaped into the desert where they wandered for 40 years and Moses received the 10 Commandments from God. It’s a complicated Bible story.
And to add a layer, the Passover Seder (dinner) was also the last supper for Jesus and his disciples, so this Bible story impacts countless millions around the globe.
How does this relate to being single?
So many of my over 40 dating coaching clients feel as if love has passed over them.
Whether they’ve been through divorce or never married, this is not a pleasant feeling or outlook on love. (I certainly don’t compare myself to Moses!) But I do hope I can help turn this idea around and free you from the enslaving misconception that love has passed over you. This does not need to be true unless you allow it to be so.
Here are the first three powerful methods to shift your dating karma and attract the love you want into your life. Two more will follow tomorrow!
1. The Law of Attraction
If you read my blog or newsletter, you’ve heard me speak about the Law of Attraction (LOA for short). LOA states simply that like attracts like. This means that if you can find a way to start believing you can find love and acting as if you know you will find it, you can then attract it. Even if you have to take a child-like approach and “pretend” love is yours, this allows your energy to rise to the vibrational level of love. Thus – you attract it!
The concept can take some practice to implement. You’ll need to find ways to halt what was habitual negative thinking that love has passed you by. Then replace these thoughts with the positive ones that you will find love, love will find you, the right man is out there. The right man will cross your path and find you. Love is real and you are worthy of it, etc. This shift is not only totally possible, but happens all the time! That’s why I know you can do it.
2. The Power of Prayer
No need to go on about the amazing power of prayer. People like Dr. Larry Dossey have spent years scientifically proving about the miraculous power of prayer in it’s role for healing the sick.
This same principle can certainly be applied to finding love! I didn’t know it at the time, but I had several friends who prayed that I would find love. My heart wells up with gratefulness every time I think of this selfless act on my behalf. Of course you can pray for yourself as well which can certainly be just as effective. Pray for an open heart, for better dating decisions, to meet more men, to find the right man for you, etc.
3. To Attract Love, Be More Loving
The last of the three power plays for love is to simply BE MORE LOVING. You can implement this is so many areas of your life and the more areas, the more love you’ll experience! Be loving with your children of course. Be loving with co-workers, clients and customers. Be loving with drivers who annoy you or cut you off. And most of all, be loving with yourself. All love starts with self-love.
When you live from this loving way of being, you melt away anger, frustration, despair, vengeance, irritation, etc. It takes practice of course and when you get off track, that’s a great time to be loving and accepting of yourself!
Following this path is not about becoming a door mat and allowing people to take advantage of you. Instead it’s a way to process the disappointments and difficulties, by continuing to share your loving nature. Now its true, no one can be this way 100% of the time, any amount of time you can add to living in love, is an improvement. And once again, this is where the Law of Attraction comes into play. The more love you feel for yourself and share with others, the more attractive you are to love!
Tomorrow, on the second day of Passover, watch for the remaining two methods to attract the love you want.
