Dating Over 40: Paris Hilton’s Cure: What to Do When You Don’t Feel Like a Hottie

I just read this interview in Parade Magazine online with Paris Hilton. She’s trying to get back her "I’m just a regular person with good manners" image. She’s in a new movie coming out soon entitled The Hottie or the Nottie.

I rarely follow or care much about Hollywood stuff, but I just can’t deny how pretty she is. When Parade asked her if she has ugly days (like a bad hair day perhaps) here’s what she replied, "I think we’re humans. All girls feel like a "nottie" some days—like someone who isn’t turning heads. That’s just part of life. I just get a facial or a massage. Pampering yourself gets you back into "hottie"-ness."

Well, I gotta tell you, that’s actually good advice. And many beautiful women tout this as the solution to not feeling good about yourself. Regena Thomashauser in her book Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts – Using the Power of Pleasure to Have You Way with the World, agrees, suggesting that a pampered woman is a confident and happy woman.

So why is that Paris? Gena? Because they know that when you pamper yourself, treat yourself well, you honor yourself. You think you’re worthy of extra care, deserve special treatment and are willing to invest in yourself.  Both time and money. That’s a powerful statement to yourself and to the Universe – a statement of self-love.  That’s why Paris has a good point and good advice.

Especially this month, with Valentine’s Day looming large on the horizon, make the decision to be good to yourself. It’s been said many times that if you want someone else to spoil you, start by spoiling yourself first. Same goes for honoring and treating yourself well. Every women has a hottie-side (yes you do!).  Why not help her come to the surface and shine?

Healthy self-esteem is very sexy. Let’s take a lesson from Paris; when you feel like a "nottie" – treat yourself to some pampering. You’ll look better, you’ll feel better, and you’ll bring out your hottie-self – just what you want to heighten your allure and magnetism during the month of love.

Well that’s truly a shame. When you take steps to improve your beauty, even if the actions aren’t permanent, you still honor yourself. When you honor yourself, you are working not only on the outside, but the inside which is really the most important part of your beauty. Loving yourself is the first step to finding a healthy, satisfying loving relationship. Please be kind to yourself and recognize the unique beauty you share with the world on many levels.

Some of us get the mani, the pedi, and the facial, and we look in the mirror and see the same old body and face that don’t get attention from men. So we’ve spent all that money, and the polish will peel within the next three days, and the rate of exfoliation slows every year past 14 or so, so it’s all for what?
