Dating App Recommendations

tips for creating a great Bumble profileI recommend Bumble as the best dating app for women and Match.com to my clients who are serious about finding love.

Most of the dating advice applies to Match.com as well, with the exception of your profile length which has to be super short and succinct on Bumble.

My clients say Hinge is another good app although you won’t have as many prospects. Some have used Tinder, but it’s definitely more of a pickup tool vs. Bumble according to women I speak with.

There is also the League, but that skews much younger and I’m a bit suspicious about how many people are in their data base. My older clients have had no luck with it.

As far as online dating sites go, Match is by far the biggest in the USA. Forget about the free sites – you get what you pay for. Depending on where you live, EliteSingles can be a good resource – it’s popular in Europe and Australia.

10 Bumble Tips for Females

Whether you are new to the app or have been using it for a while, there are some good Bumble profile tips and other strategies below that will surely help.

1) Write a Standout Profile

Get specific about yourself, even though you don’t have much space. If you enjoy wine, say chardonnay or Cote de Rhone. You’ll capture more attention with a few standout tidbits than the same old bland stuff everyone says like dining out or movies.

Don’t just talk about what you like to do, but WHO YOU ARE. One of my best Bumble profile tips is to answer this question…”I’m the kind of person who…?” That will get you started.

When you are done composing, take out all the extra words so that it fits. Perfect sentences aren’t necessary for Bumble and you only get 300 characters which includes punctuation and spaces!

2) Post Pictures of Just You

Bumble is about YOU. Not your kids, friends, family, or pets. Keep those photos focused on you. I’ve heard lots of feedback that men get sidetracked when you include other women in your photos.

Five pictures are enough and with that many, its OK that one shows you with your sunglasses. You have others that show off your eyes, which really are the window of your soul.

3) Choose Great Clothes for Your Photo

wear something great for your Bumble photos Here’s another one of the essential Bumble profile tips. Wear something date-worthy! What would you wear to dinner on a fifth date with a guy you’re excited about?

Pick out something that you look and feel fabulous in. That’s the kind of photo you need. When you feel good abut yourself, that shows in your photo.

If you aren’t quite sure what looks good on you or makes you look your best, ask a fashion-forward friend for help. Try on different outfits and make this fun.

You only get one chance to make that first impression online and a picture is worth a thousand words as they say, so take your time to get this right. Certainly at the top of the list for Bumble tips for females.

4) Posing for Pictures

great photos for bumble include this poseYes, there is a pose that all women need to try. It’s a three-quarter view. Stand with one shoulder away from the camera and the other towards it. You are standing at an angle but your face is straight to the camera.

This allows you to turn your neck a bit and look your best. Put your weight on your back leg which will make you look curvier! It’s a winning pose every time.

One of my most favorite Bumble profile tips!

5) Start the Conversation

On Bumble, the woman must start the conversation. That’s because a woman who worked at Tinder was unsatisfied with how things were run, so she started the app to give women the advantage and more control.

Ask about something fun! As far as Bumble profile tips go, this is one to pay attention to. Check out his profile and ask about his passions or hobbies. Open ended questions create conversation because he can’t just say yes or no.

What works best is asking about something you both enjoy. For example, if you both like to ski, ask him what his favorite ski resort is. If you both like hiking ask, “What’s the best hike you’ve been on lately?”

6)Messaging Men

Avoid saying that you have a lot in common – that’s for him to decide and it’s empty words. Don’t ask questions that you will surely get a simple, “Good” in response. For example, “How is your week going?” will likely get a “good” response and then there’s no back and forth or further conversation.

Also, try not to qualify him as a proper date. Questions like, “How long have you been divorced?” are better asked later after you meet.

Instead, try to get a good exchange going. You can ask those harder questions later in the process. Remember, he’s sizing you up too, so make it fun and engaging for him to see you’re more appealing than most women who don’t do this.

7) Respond in 24 hours

respond within 24 hours to Bumble messagesWe live in an instant world. If you don’t respond in the same day, other women will. Don’t blow your chances by not checking your messages.

If you are serious about finding lasting love, check your matches and messages daily and if you are interested, get back to guys quickly who message you. You don’t have to jump on it within minutes, but don’t let more than a day go by.

For men who don’t make the cut, just delete them. Don’t respond that you are not interested or aren’t a good match. Men fine this insulting, even if that wasn’t your intention.

8) Date Local

While you may be tempted to open up your circle wider, what makes your life easier is to date local men. It’s simpler to find a time to meet and takes less time to get together.

Men who are geographically distant will make it harder to see each other or be spontaneous. Look local first. You can always widen your search later if needed. While this isn’t one of the Bumble profile tips, it is good dating advice for any app you use.

9) Give Men a Chance

Most men on the app will not be right for you. I’m talking like 95% of them, so expect and accept this from the start. Don’t get all bent out of joint about how all the wrong men are contacting you and why don’t they read.

This is a waste of your energy and will drag down your vibe about dating. Just delete and move on to find the good guys in your inbox.

You need to meet a good number of prospects which is why sorting through your options is an important step. You can’t really know from a photo and profile alone – you have to go meet some of the men to know for sure.

Often a man will surprise you and be better than you thought, while some guy you felt was a sure thing ends up being a dud. Give men a chance and that in turn gives you the best chance of finding a good match.

10) Date More Than One Man

date more than one man at a timeWomen are often tempted to focus on one guy who seems like a good prospect. The problem is, you can get quickly attached. Then, when things don’t work out, you’re disappointed, heartbroken, and need time to recover. Ugh!

You need to remain objective for a while to vet a man properly and you can’t do that when you have no one to compare him with.

This is how you end up with the wrong man, because you got emotionally invested before you were sure about your compatibility.

A Potent Strategy to Avoid Heartbreak with Each Guy

An essential dating strategy beyond the Bumble profile tips is to date more than one guy at the same time. This prevents you from getting prematurely attached.

Remember, the purpose of dating is to determine who is worthy of having a relationship with. The process of dating is first, followed by the relationship. Having a few dates with a guy is NOT being in a relationship with him.

Another problem is you never know who will stick around or ask you out again. That’s why dating more than one man keeps you active and eliminates the need to recover, because other men are asking you out.

When I was looking for love, I often dated 3 men at the same time. There was rarely a problem because most men ghost quickly anyway, and never get past the first meeting (date zero).

Following this strategy kept me from feeling heartbroken after each guy disappeared and fell off the earth.

My last piece of dating advice for this concern is to thank each man who ghosts quickly for not wasting more of your time. You don’t communicate this to the men, it’s just in your own mind and heart.
